FAQs

  • How do I make an initial appointment?
To schedule your initial visit, please utilize the "Book Online" button on our website, email us at dr.butler@beautyforashesbehavioralhealth.com, or call us at (757) 418-6195. If you choose to leave a phone message, please indicate whether Beauty For Ashes Behavioral Health may leave a message on your answering machine. We look forward to hearing from you and helping you on your mental health journey.
  • How do I make follow-up appointments?
During your appointment, we will schedule your next appointment. I will also provide access to the electronic health record patient portal where you may make follow-up appointments. You may also call (757) 418-6195 to schedule an appointment.
  • How long do appointments last?
The initial visit lasts up to 105 minutes. Follow-up appointments last up to 45 minutes.
  • How frequently will I need an appointment?
The frequency of appointments depends on how long it takes to find the most suitable medication for you at the appropriate dosage. When we start or adjust your medication, it may be necessary to have more frequent visits, usually every 2-6 weeks. After identifying the best medication and dose for your needs, follow-up appointments occur every 3-6 months.
  • What if I need to cancel my appointment?
Cancel for free until 24 hours before your scheduled appointment through the electronic health record patient portal or call my office and leave a message without incurring any charge. Changed, canceled, or missed appointments with less than 24-hour notice will be charged the full amount to your credit or debit card on file.
  • What happens if I am in crisis during an appointment?
At the beginning of every appointment, you will provide your location. This ensures that you are in the state of Virginia, and in case of an emergency, your emergency contact person or emergency personnel can assist you as soon as possible.
  • What if we are disconnected during a telemedicine appointment?
Please attempt to log back into the appointment. If unable to reconnect, call the office to complete any final issues or reschedule the appointment if any significant time is left.
  • How do I pay for my sessions?
I accept payments through various methods, including credit and debit cards, Health Savings Account (HSA) cards, bank accounts, and Venmo.
  • How much do appointments cost?
The initial visit costs $150. Follow-up visits cost $75.
  • Do you accept insurance?
At Beauty for Ashes Behavioral Health, I offer personalized and high-quality care to my patients. My practice operates on a cash-based fee-for-service model, with competitive rates of $150 for the initial visit and $75 for follow-up visits. I do not accept medical insurance. However, I offer several payment options such as credit card, debit card, health savings account, and Venmo to make the payment process seamless. Please note that as a fee-for-service practice, I cannot see patients with Medicare, Medicaid, or other state insurance due to Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services regulations, even if they wish to pay out of pocket. I appreciate your understanding.
